Manager The Monocle Café | 100%

The Monocle Café is seeking a standards-driven, forward-thinking Café Manager to lead our growing team at Chiltern Street. The role involves the day-to-day running of the café business, managing both the kitchen team and hosting front-of-house, as well working along our Monocle retail team at Chiltern Street. You will be responsible for all aspects of managing the financial and operational elements of the business, including menu innovation, setting and upholsting customer-service standards, supplier relationships, events management, marketing and payroll. We are well known for our excellent coffee and drinks, so proven barista skills in a busy environment are essential, as is the ability to hire, train and develop the Café team. You will have at least three years’ experience of managing a small, cohesive team and delivering an exceptional and unique customer experience within an independent environment. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in world affairs, business and design, have a passion for printed matter and will be an ambassador for our brand. The Monocle Café is open seven days a week and at times you will be expected to work weekends and evenings as part of your weekly schedule. The Monocle Café is situated very close to our London bureau and Monocle shop and you will have daily interactions with the wider Monocle team, who frequently entertain guests there. You must have a valid UK work permit, excellent verbal and written English and basic computer skills. Part time/Full-time We are looking for a highly motivated, efficient Barista to join us at The Monocle Café in Marylebone, London. For this role your priority will be exceptional customer service, great coffee and an overall fantastic attention to detail. You ideally have 1+ year working the hospitality industry, are a team-player, are punctual and reliable and open to working on weekends. An interest in print and our brand is a plus. Responsibilities: Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all items on the menu & drunks list, including any specials or new items Ensure all café equipment is maintained correctly and that accurate maintenance schedules are recorded and logged To ensure the satisfaction of all customers by ensuring that service is prompt, efficient and delivered to the highest standards. To deal with all customer enquiries in a polite and courteous manner. To assist in the planning and execution of any special functions or events To ensure a safe and hygienic environment is maintained for customers, staff and visitors and report any defects immediately to the Café Manager and/or supervisor To ensure that all staff maintain high standard of personal hygiene and that individual and the operation meet statutory food safety standards To ensure that each day’s sales are correctly and accurately reconciled in line with the electronic-point-of-sale report and credit card terminal. Café supervisor

Full time, Part-time, Permanent The Monocle Café is seeking a café supervisor with 1-2 years’ experience to help lead the front and back of house teams in the day-to-day operations of the café. You should be a strong communicator, detail-orientated and passionate about hospitality and creating a fun, cosy atmosphere for our customers and staff. You should like a fast-paced environment and be excited to be support and be involved in wider company events. Responsibilities: Take responsibility to ensure smooth running of the business during working shifts and to conduct this in line with Monocle Café policies, procedures, and strategic direction. Use initiative to solve any problems. You will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer service is provided across the team. You should ensure that service is prompt and delivered to the highest standards. To assist in the training and development of new staff and always contribute to a positive work environment. To assist in ensuring stock levels are maintained and communicated to management To assist in the planning and execution of any special functions or events Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness and ensure guidelines are adhered to Proactively resolve any customer complaints in an efficient, professional, and satisfactory manner to ensure a positive outcome and secure future business, escalating any serious issues to the Cafe Manager.
